Volkswagen India today finally launched the new entry-level Volkswagen Teron Life SUV in the Indian market, priced at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Teron Life sits below the range-topping R-Line trim and costs about Rs 5 lakh less, making it a more affordable option. The VW Tayron Life will be manufactured locally at the carmaker’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra. This SUV competes with Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting their nearest VW dealership; Deliveries are expected to begin soon.
The Teron Life has a lighter exterior compared to the R-Line. Since it does not get the sport styling package, components like the front grille, wheel arch cladding and rear bumper trim are finished differently without the gloss black treatment offered on the top-spec version. The front fascia also gets a revised bumper design. This includes an L-shaped grille insert and a silver trim piece below the grille, giving the SUV a clean look. Despite these changes, the key lighting elements remain unchanged. The Life trim continues with slim matrix LED headlamps, an illuminated Volkswagen logo in the center and a full-width LED light bar connecting the headlights.In terms of dimensions, the Teron measures 4,792 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,789 mm. The side profile is largely similar to the R-Line, although the alloy wheel design is different. The Life variant rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, which are an inch smaller than the ones fitted on the flagship trim. The SUV continues to feature a clean side profile, with a pronounced shoulder line extending from the rear door to the tailgate. A silver trim outlines the window area before moving towards the rear quarter glass, while a chrome strip further joins the side profile.Changes at the rear are limited. The bumper adopts a simpler design, but the rest of the styling remains unchanged. The Life trim continues with LED tail-lamps featuring wide lighting elements, a full-width LED light bar, an illuminated Volkswagen badge and a roof-mounted spoiler.Moving inside, the cabin layout of the Teron Life is almost similar to the R-Line. The most noticeable differences are the absence of R-Line badging and the removal of the third row seats, making it a five-seater. Feature levels remain largely unchanged despite its lower position in the range. The SUV continues to offer a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with ventilation and massage function, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, a 360-degree camera, nine airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Is. The Teron Life is equipped with an eight-speaker sound system, while the R-Line comes equipped with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio setup.Talking about the powertrain, it gets the same EA888 2.0, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which produces 204hp and 320Nm. The engine comes with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, which supplies power to all four wheels.
