Volkswagen recently confirmed a major product offensive for India in 2026, with plans to introduce five new models during the year. The German carmaker has said it plans to introduce a new product every quarter, covering SUV, sedan and hatchback body styles. Although specific details have been kept under wraps, the strategy points to a renewed focus on expanding Volkswagen’s presence in key segments of the Indian market. Local assembly of the Teron R-Line is underway at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant. Once introduced, it will take on rivals like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, the upcoming MG Magister, Jeep Meridian and the Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market. Design-wise, it has a sharp, sporty appearance with angular bumpers, large 19-inch alloy wheels and special R-Line branding. Built on the MQB EVO architecture shared with the Tiguan R-Line, it benefits from an extended wheelbase of 2,789 mm, approximately 109 mm longer, to accommodate the third row of seating.

Moving to the cabin, the Volkswagen Teron R-Line gets a large 15-inch touchscreen that is angled towards the driver and controls most of the major functions of the vehicle. While the leather-clad front seats retain the massage function seen on the Tiguan R-Line, the Teron replaces seat heating with front-seat ventilation, a feature better suited to Indian conditions. Other key features include a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, customizable ambient lighting with 30 color options and matrix LED lighting technology. The VW Tayron is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 204 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, which supplies power to all four wheels. volkswagen taigun new look With the Skoda Kushaq facelift already revealed, a refreshed version of the Volkswagen Taigun is expected to arrive soon. These updates will help Taigun remain relevant in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.

From the side, the changes are likely to be more subtle, with newly designed alloy wheels expected to be the major visual update. Moving towards the cabin, the overall layout is expected to remain largely unchanged with some minor modifications and feature additions. These may include a panoramic sunroof, rear-seat massage function, a fully digital instrument cluster and AI-based integration for the infotainment system.As part of the update, like Skoda, Volkswagen is also expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. The new gearbox is expected to improve fuel efficiency, as well as provide smoother shifts than the outgoing transmission and reduce fuel loss during acceleration and deceleration. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol produces 115 hp and 175 Nm of torque. The second engine is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol with 150 hp and 250 Nm. Expected gearbox options include only a 7-speed DSG for the 1.5.Volkswagen Virtus new look The Volkswagen Virtus was launched in 2022 and is now set to get a mid-cycle facelift. The overall silhouette is expected to remain unchanged, but the Virtus is likely to get a significant design update at the front and rear. The updates are expected to include a revised grille with sleeker headlamps and a redesigned front fascia with a new bumper design. Along the sides, it is expected to get newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is likely to get a redesigned boot lid, slimmer tail-lamps and other subtle styling updates.

On the features front, it is likely to get a fully digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, ventilated front seats and many additional upgrades. Mechanically, it is expected to continue unchanged, retaining the same set of engine options. Like the Taigun, Volkswagen is expected to introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. The second engine is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol.
