The upcoming electric Mercedes-Benz CLA is set to enter the Indian market in April 2026, which will bring the CLA nameplate back in all-electric form. Booking of the model will start from March 10. Once launched, the new electric sedan will compete with premium EVs like the BYD Seal, which is already on sale in India. Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric vs BYD Sealed: Battery, Range and Specifications
The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric will be offered in 250+ variants and will use an 85 kWh battery pack. The company claims a WLTP-certified range of 792 km on a single charge. Power comes from an electric motor generating 272 hp, allowing the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The model will also support up to 240kW DC fast charging, which can add up to 400km of range in less than 20 minutes under suitable conditions.
The BYD Seal, on the other hand, is offered in three variants: Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The base Dynamic variant gets a 61.44 kWh battery and a rear-mounted motor producing 204 hp, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds. The Premium variant uses a larger 82.56 kWh battery and 313 hp rear motor, reducing the sprint time to 5.9 seconds.The top-spec Performance variant uses the same 82.56 kWh battery, but adds a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, producing 218 hp at the front and 313 hp at the rear. This version is the fastest, with a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 3.8 seconds.

In terms of price, the BYD Seal currently starts at Rs 41 lakh, ex-showroom. Prices for the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric will be announced in April.
