Japanese automaker Lexus unveiled the next-generation Lexus ES globally in April 2025. And now, the luxury sedan will make its India debut tomorrow. In its eighth generation, the new Lexus ES features a completely new design, new interior, additional features, added safety and more. The new ES will be purchased in India via the CKD route and prices are expected to start at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series LWB and Audi A6 in the Indian market. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
powertrainTalking about powertrains first, globally, the Lexus ES is offered with hybrid and all-electric powertrains, in India the hybrid range is expected to continue, while the EV launch remains uncertain. The ES 300h is available with 197hp 2.0-litre and 201hp 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid options, while the ES 350h uses a 2.5-litre unit producing 247hp. All hybrid versions come with an e-CVT and are available with front- or all-wheel drive setups. The electric lineup includes the ES 350e and 550e. The 350e uses a 77kWh battery with a 224hp front-mounted motor, while the 550e gets a 74.7kWh battery and dual motors generating 343hp. Claimed range figures are 685 km for the 350e and 610 km for the 550e.
designThe new Lexus ES features a redesigned front with L-shaped DRLs and indicators arranged in a Z-like pattern, while the main headlamps are located below within glossy black elements. The spindle grille has been replaced by a smooth central section with patterned detailing along with small lower air intakes. There are sharp lines on the bonnet that extend to the fenders, and vertical air channels on the bumper edges aid airflow while adding width. In profile, the ES adopts a more streamlined look with a defined shoulder line, an aerodynamic crease with gloss black accents, flush door handles and new alloy wheels. The sloped roof with cam-tail design improves air flow. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar with illuminated ‘Lexus’ lettering is the key element, along with a sharp boot edge and L-shaped reflectors. The size of the sedan has also increased, measuring 5,140 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,555-1,560 mm in height, making it 165 mm longer, 55 mm wider and 115 mm taller. The wheelbase has increased by 80mm to 2,950mm.
Interior and FeaturesThe new Lexus ES adopts a clean cabin layout with a greater focus on digital controls while minimizing the use of physical buttons. Most functions are accessed via a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with over-the-air update capability, while the center console features touch-capacitive controls. The dashboard uses a layered, horizontal design with soft-touch materials, metallic accents and ambient lighting. It follows a driver-centric layout with minimal clutter.A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, paired with a three-spoke steering wheel that retains the physical controls. A head-up display has also been introduced. The center console has a more open design with integrated storage and cupholders, while trim options include wood, metal and piano black finishes. The ES comes with powered front seats with memory, heating and ventilation, while rear passengers benefit from extra space and reclining seats with optional ottoman and massage function. Features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a Mark Levinson sound system, and an electrochromic glass roof. Other equipment includes an electronic parking brake, wireless charging, USB port, multi-zone climate control and an ADAS suite.
