Swedish automaker Volvo Cars has revealed the new Volvo EX60 electric midsize SUV globally. It is the first vehicle based on the EV-specific SPA3 platform and is positioned as an electric alternative to the XC60. The EX60 will launch first in European markets before being introduced in the US at a later stage. The EX60 is also available in a Cross Country edition that adds 20 mm ground clearance, stainless-steel skid plate and matte-black body cladding. It gets an exclusive Frost Green exterior shade, a different interior theme and materials, Cross Country badging on the D-pillar and bumpers, and adaptive air suspension with off-road mode.
Talking about powertrain first, the EX60 will be available in trim levels, with battery size, power output and range varying across the line-up. The entry-level P6 Electric uses an 83kWh battery, with a rear-mounted motor producing 374hp and 480Nm of torque. The P10 AWD adds a front motor and a larger 95kWh battery, increasing combined outputs to 510hp and 710Nm. At the top is the P12 AWD, which pairs a 117kWh battery with a dual-motor setup producing 680hp and 790Nm.Claimed WLTP range stands at 620 km, 660 km and 810 km for the three variants, while fast-charging capability remains the same across the range. All variants support DC fast charging up to 400 kW, allowing 10 to 80 percent charge in less than 20 minutes, as well as AC charging at speeds up to 22 kW.
Design-wise, it follows the same design language as Volvo with a closed-grille front design and a split headlamp arrangement, which includes Thor’s hammer LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps located lower on the bumper. Along the edges, the SUV makes use of clean surfaces with subtle lines around the wheel arches and doors. A sculpted crease and black cladding run along the lower doors, while illuminated wing-style handles replace traditional door handles. Wheel options range from 20 to 22 inches, with wider rear tires for added traction.At the rear, the EX60 sports slim LED tail-lamps, a black strip on the upper tailgate, thick black cladding and a thin silver insert on the bumper. Two exterior themes are offered: Shiny, with silver accents on the door sills and bumpers, and Dark, which uses a black finish instead.
Moving inside, the Volvo EX60 features a dual-tone cabin with a layered dashboard layout. Interior highlights include a large touchscreen infotainment system, advanced driver assistance systems and a premium audio setup. Talking about the features, it has an 11.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch Android-based infotainment screen. Other features include an electrochromic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, powered driver seat with memory, Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, OTA updates and Google Gemini AI assistant. Audio duties are handled by a 21-speaker Bose system, with an optional 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins upgrade, while rear passengers get reclining seats.
