If you’ve driven an EV for the first time, you’ve probably noticed this right away. As soon as you take your foot off the accelerator, the car starts slowing down. This is called regenerative braking, or simply regeneration. Unlike petrol or diesel cars, an EV attempts to recover some energy while moving slowly. Instead of wasting all the energy through the brakes, the motor sends a portion of it back to the battery. This is why driving an EV feels a little different, especially in urban traffic.Regenerative braking: simple tips to use it better In places like Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, Rezen can really help a lot. Daily driving usually involves traffic jams, red lights, flyovers and constant braking. This is where regenerative braking works best. The trick is to run it smoothly. Many people drive at high speed and apply brakes suddenly near signals or speed breakers. In EV it is better to release the accelerator a little earlier. The car automatically starts slowing down and also regains some energy.

Most modern EVs now let drivers adjust regen levels. Some cars offer a mild regeneration experience, while other cars slow down quite aggressively after releasing the accelerator. It depends on what you feel comfortable with. At the same time, regen is not a replacement for regular brakes. Even if you brake hard or suddenly, the normal braking system still operates. Ryzen can also feel weak when the battery is fully charged because there is less room left to store additional energy. Driving style also matters. Aggressive acceleration, quick overtakes and sudden braking reduce efficiency. Smoother inputs generally help the car give better range. For many first-time EV owners, strong regenerative braking feels strange at first. But after a few days most drivers get used to it. Some people seem to like it more in traffic because driving the car feels easier and more comfortable.
