Skoda India sets fastest multi-car relay record at CoASTT circuit: details

Skoda Auto India has entered the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records after setting the ‘Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit’ at the CoASTT track in Coimbatore. The achievement comes alongside the company’s new ‘GOAT – Greatest on a Track’ campaign, which focuses on highlighting the performance-oriented character of the brand’s lineup in India.This record was set using a fleet of five Skoda models driven consecutively by five drivers in a single uninterrupted relay. The combined time recorded by the fleet was 12:30.97, including the pit-lane driver changeover, making it the fastest total relay time achieved by a single manufacturer at a circuit in the country.The relaunch included the Kia Sportage 1.0 AT, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Slavia 1.5 DSG, Kodiaq Selection L&K and Octavia RS. Each car completed a lap around the 3.8 km long CoASTT circuit, with the Octavia RS emerging as the fastest model of the group after posting a lap time of 2:10.85.The newly launched Kylaq compact SUV completed its lap in 2:31.6, while the Kushaq completed its lap in 2:29.7. The Slavia sedan took a time of 2:27.63, and the Kodiaq Selection L&K took a time of 2:26.34, despite being a large seven-seat luxury SUV with four-wheel-drive capability.According to Skoda Auto India, the relay format requires each vehicle in the lineup to perform consistently in difficult conditions, including quick pit-lane changeovers. The company says the aim of the exercise was to showcase its vehicles’ agility, braking ability, balance retention and overall dynamic strength, which also contributes to better control and safety in everyday driving situations.Currently, Skoda Auto India sells models like Kylak, Slavia, Kushaq and Kodiaq in the country. The company is present in 182 cities with over 330 customer touchpoints and is projected to record 72,665 vehicle sales in 2025, registering a growth of 107 percent year-on-year.
