Toyota India has recently launched the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Abella electric SUV in the Indian market. And now, the deliveries of the electric SUV have started. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, the Abella EV shares most of its core components with its Maruti counterpart. The reveal marks a significant milestone for Toyota, marking its entry into India’s mass-market EV segment with a mid-size electric SUV that will take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.Toyota has priced the top-spec Ebella E3 at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, it offers it at a starting vehicle price of Rs 15.25 lakh, with a charge of Rs 4.99 per km on battery usage. Abella is offered in three variants: E1, E2 and E3. The top-spec E3 is costlier by Rs 3.60 lakh than the related Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara variant, which is priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota has not yet announced prices for the E1 and E2 trims. The urban cruiser Abella is available in two battery pack options – 49kWh or 61kWh battery pack. The 49kWh battery will come with a single motor mounted on the front axle, producing 144hp. The larger 61kWh battery also gets a single-motor, but here it produces 174hp. Both the motors produce the same 189Nm of torque. Talking about range, the EV has a claimed range of 440 km with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the larger 61 kWh version is rated at 543 km on a single charge. In terms of features, the EV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options, and ventilated front seats. Apart from this, it has features like wireless charging, JBL sound system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports and in-cabin air purifier. In terms of safety, the model gets seven airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS functions like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and more.Image Source: Capital Toyota/Instagram
