Korean automaker Hyundai recently unveiled the latest generation i20 in Brazil, which brings significant changes compared to its predecessor. The updated hatchback is expected to make its way to additional international markets in the coming months. Earlier, the company has unveiled the Shadow Edition of the existing i20 N for the Australian market. Unlike Hyundai’s N Line offerings, the N-badged model has been developed with a greater focus on outright performance, and Australia is one of the few markets where the i20 N is officially sold.

The i20 N Shadow Edition is limited to only 100 units, and the special edition receives cosmetic upgrades while retaining the mechanical package of the standard model. Launch plans for other markets are unknown, and it is also unclear whether the new generation model will spawn an N-badged performance version.First of all, talking about the engine, it has a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 204hp and 275Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels. Hyundai claims that the hot hatch can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 kmph.

The new i20 N Shadow Edition features 18-inch forged alloy wheels finished in matte bronze with black center caps, along with bronze decals on the lower parts of the doors. Buyers can choose from two exterior colors out of the five available on the regular i20 N. The rest of the exterior colors remain unchanged, including N-specific styling elements like sportier bumpers, red accents, a rear spoiler and an oval exhaust outlet.Moving inside, the Special Edition gets an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever, a numbered plaque below the center air vent and custom rubber floor mats patterned after the tread pattern of the Pirelli P Zero tires fitted to the car. Other features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, fully digital cluster, Bose audio system, heated front seats, launch control, rev match function, performance telemetry and lap timer, mechanical limited-slip differential (E-LSD), variable exhaust system and more.
