Hyundai Motor India is continuously testing its upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV. This time, the upcoming SUV has been spotted alongside the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, giving us an idea of its proportions. The Bayon appears more compact than the 4.3 meter long Victoris. Visual comparison also reveals a shorter wheelbase, while its alloy wheels appear to be smaller in diameter than those fitted to the Victoris.Hyundai is preparing to launch two new SUVs for the Indian market. Codenamed BC4, and at this stage, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the status of the upcoming Bayonne-based SUV. While some reports suggest that it will be a sub-four-metre offering to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Toyota Tasar and the Nissan Magnite, other reports indicate that it may exceed four meters in length and be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV portfolio. Until Hyundai reveals official specifications, the exact segment and positioning of the SUV will remain unclear.
Design-wise, the front end of the Bayon will feature a split-headlamp layout similar to the current Venue, with slim LED daytime running lamps placed above the main headlight units. Previous exotic views have also revealed black bumper cladding, front parking sensors and a radar module, suggesting the availability of advanced driver assistance systems. The side profile takes several styling cues from the international-spec Bayon. The window lines, roof profile and overall proportions appear largely similar to the global model, while the alloy wheels have a new design. Although wheel size has not been confirmed, Bayon sold overseas is offered with wheels up to 16 inches. At the rear, the SUV continues with the split-lighting arrangement. The lower portion is expected to house the primary tail-lamp units, while the upper portion can accommodate the indicators and reverse lamps. The test vehicle was also seen with roof rails, rear parking sensors and a reverse camera. The interior of the standard model has not been photographed yet. However, an overseas sighting of the N Line version revealed an all-black cabin theme with contrast detailing and adjustable headrests. The production model is expected to have a similar layout, albeit with a different color scheme. Although Hyundai has not revealed the feature list, the SUV is likely to be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected-car technology, automatic climate control, wireless charging and a number of safety features. Higher versions may also provide ADAS functions.Powertrain details also remain unknown; The SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG option. At the same time, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is also expected to be available.Image: Reddit/rCarsIndia
