Honda Cars India today finally launched the much-awaited Honda ZR-V in the Indian market, priced at Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom). The ZR-V is offered in a single fully loaded variant and has been brought to India from Japan as a completely built unit (CBU). The hybrid SUV competes with the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Nissan X-Trail and others.Talking about the powertrain, the Honda ZR-V is powered by a 2.0-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine with a four-cylinder, direct-injection setup running on the Atkinson cycle and two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. Combined output is 184hp and 315 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox. Honda claims a 0-100kph acceleration of 7.9 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 171kph and a fuel efficiency of 22.8kpl. In terms of design, the Honda ZR-V adopts a crossover-like design, rather than the traditional upright SUV form with clean surfaces. At the front, it features a large grille and wide LED headlamps, which are neatly integrated into the fascia to provide a restrained yet noticeable appearance. In profile, the SUV appears lower than the regular models, with a sloping roofline and long wheelbase, making it closer to a raised hatchback than a traditional long SUV. Subtle character lines add definition without overcomplicating the design. The same approach continues at the rear, with wraparound LED tail lamps, slightly raked rear glass and a simple tailgate layout. The roof-mounted spoiler adds a mild sporty element while maintaining the overall clean design. The exterior is more urban-centric than rugged. Moving inside, the Honda ZR-V adopts a straightforward cabin design. Controls are logically arranged with an emphasis on accessibility from the driver’s seat. The infotainment screen is located as a standalone unit at the top of the dashboard, clearly separated from the physical switchgear below. Honda continues to use traditional button and rotary controls for functions such as climate control.Talking about the features, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, electric tailgate, acoustic front and rear windshield, front and rear ambient lighting, wipers with integrated washer, 8 airbags, ADAS and more.
