Volkswagen India today announced that it has started accepting pre-bookings for the new Volkswagen Teron R-Line SUV. Interested customers can reserve the SUV by visiting their nearest VW dealership or online with a pre-booking amount of Rs 51,000. The Volkswagen Teron R-Line will come to India via the CKD route, a move that will help keep pricing competitive. The SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) and the price is expected to be announced sometime in February 2026.The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line can be seen as an extended, seven-seat derivative of the Tiguan R-Line, with larger overall dimensions to make room for a third row of seats. At the front, its design closely mirrors that of the Tiguan R-Line, although a subtly revised grille helps differentiate it. The illuminated Volkswagen emblem, paired with a full-width LED light bar, adds a distinctive visual identity, while the bumper is largely finished in gloss black for a sportier appearance.
From the side, the long silhouette of the Teron clearly hints at its three-row layout. It gets the same 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels as the Tiguan R-Line, which fill the wheel arches nicely, complemented by slim gloss black cladding. Small styling touches include an R badge on the front doors and chrome accents around the window line, which add a premium touch. At the rear, the Teron R-Line again looks very simple compared to the Tiguan R-Line and follows a clean and modern design approach. The standout feature is the connected LED tail-lamp setup with pixel-style lighting elements, giving the SUV a distinctive identity at night. The bumper, finished in glossy black, mirrors the treatment seen at the front, tying the overall design together.
Moving inside, again, the interior is similar to the Tiguan R-Line and features a large 15-inch touchscreen that is angled towards the driver and controls most of the major functions of the vehicle. While the leather-clad front seats retain the massage function seen on the Tiguan R-Line, the Teron replaces seat heating with front-seat ventilation, a feature better suited to Indian conditions. Other key features include a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, customizable ambient lighting with 30 color options and matrix LED lighting technology. In terms of practicality, the SUV offers up to 850 liters of boot space when the third row is folded.
Talking about the engine, the Teron is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, which supplies power to all four wheels. The same engine also powers the Tiguan R-Line. Once introduced, it will take on rivals like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, the upcoming MG Magister, Jeep Meridian and the Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market.
