Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it will re-launch the new Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV in the Indian market on March 3, 2026. The MPV will return to the market after being withdrawn in 2022, ending a hiatus of more than three years. With its re-entry, the V-Class will strengthen Mercedes-Benz India’s presence in the luxury segment, sitting at the top of the brand’s product range. Ahead of its launch, let’s take a look at the top five things you need to know about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV.Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Design Design-wise, the V-Class has a clean, boxy profile and a sculpted bonnet that flows into a prominent U-shaped front grille, complemented by a strong shoulder line along the sides. The rear design is straightforward, with a large glass area and the wheel design and bumper style vary across variants. Globally, the V-Class is offered with two wheelbase options – 3,200 mm long and 3,430 mm extra long. Overseas buyers can opt for multiple seating layouts, including an 8-seat, 7-seat and a range-topping 6-seat configuration with captain seats in the second and third row. Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which wheelbase and seating options will be offered for the Indian market.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Interior and features Moving inside, the V-Class has a familiar Mercedes layout with twin 12.3-inch displays – one for the infotainment and one for the instrument cluster. It gets soft-touch surfaces, brushed accents and neatly integrated controls with a number of physical buttons that give the cabin a well-crafted feel. The V-Class really stands out in the rear cabin. In a fully loaded six-seat configuration, second-row passengers get individual captain seats with a special focus on comfort. These include massage functions, heating and ventilation with powered adjustments, a reclining backrest with an extendable footrest and built-in storage space with ambient lighting. Other features include multi-zone climate control, multi-color ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Nappa leather upholstery, Burmester sound system and more. Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Powertrain Globally, the V-Class is offered with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel turbo engine in two configurations – the 220d, with 163hp and 380Nm, and the more powerful 300d, with 237hp and 500Nm. Both engines come with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It is offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. It is not clear whether Mercedes-Benz will offer both engine variants in India or limit the lineup to a single option, he said. Globally, the V-Class is also offered in an all-electric version, the EQV. Depending on market demand, Mercedes-Benz may consider introducing an all-electric version at a later stage.Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Expected price and rivals The new V-Class is expected to be priced between Rs 1-1.2 crore (ex-showroom). With pre-bookings likely to begin soon, the MPV is expected to be brought to India via the CBU route. Once launched, it will take on rivals like Lexus LM, Toyota Vellfire and MG M9.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Decision on India launch The reintroduction of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class expands the options available in India’s luxury MPV segment at a time when demand for driver-driven, comfort-focused vehicles is on the rise. It is expected that this model will be liked by buyers looking for an alternative to premium sedans and SUVs. The V-Class benefits from its upscale positioning, spacious interior and established brand presence. However, its prospects will largely depend on the price and variants offered. The competitive balance between features and cost could help the V-Class secure a steady position among high-end MPV buyers in India.
