MG Motor India finally unveiled the MG Magister SUV in the Indian market. The SUV was first unveiled at the 2025 India Mobility Expo and is essentially a significantly updated version of the Gloster. Although it retains the same core platform, the SUV gets a number of updates including changes to the design, features and off-road hardware to differentiate it. As a result, the Magister will sit above the Gloster in the line-up, targeting buyers wanting a more advanced and capable full-size SUV. MG Magister: Engine and 4×4 details Talking about the engine, it has been introduced in a single 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 215 HP power, which comes with ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets a 4×4 system with all-terrain management software that MG calls M-Hub, which offers 10 selectable terrain and drive modes. It also gets a crawl mode called M-Crawl function and three differential locks. It also has a maximum water-wading capacity of up to 810 mm for an SUV. The SUV offers 10 off-road modes with automatic on-the-fly switching between 2H and 4H drive settings.
MG Magister: Design and colors Design-wise, it has a large matrix-style grille flanked by Falcon-inspired daytime running lights on either side and modern split headlamps at the front. The side profile highlights its premium stance with 19-inch alloy wheels, while at the rear there are new connected LED tail-lights and a sculpted tailgate marked with ‘Morris Garages’ and ‘Majester’ badging. Other highlights include faux twin exhaust tips, a skid plate, an integrated spoiler, a rear wiper with washer and more. Color options include monotone shades like Metal Black, Pearl White, Concrete Gray and Metal Ash.
MG Magister: Interior and Features The new Magister is offered in both six- and seven-seat layout options. The six-seater has individual captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seater has a conventional bench. The dashboard gets a completely redesigned design with piano-black trim and silver accents that give a modern feel. In terms of features, it gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, 12.3-inch digital driver display, MG’s i-Smart 2.0 connected-car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12-speaker JBL sound system, electrically adjustable front seats that offer heating, cooling and multiple massage functions, three-zone automatic climate control with rear-row vents, dual wireless charging. Pads, a panoramic sunroof, pedals. shifters, 64-color ambient lighting, a gesture-operated tailgate and more.Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning with prevention, and blind-spot monitoring.
