The TVS Ronin range may soon get a facelift, and if you’re planning to buy it, it might be worth holding off for a while. TVS Motor Company has filed a design patent for a café racer version of the Ronin. Although the company has not yet confirmed a launch timeline, the filing of a design patent usually indicates an intention to explore production possibilities.
TVS Ronin Cafe Racer : what to expect
While the standard Ronin has been in existence since 2022, interestingly, this is not the first time that such a concept has come up. TVS had earlier showcased the café racer-style Ronin at its MotoSoul event. Now with the patent officially filed, the idea looks to be getting closer to reality. From the design sketch, the biggest highlight is the front-end styling. The bike features a retro café racer fairing that is built around a circular headlamp, topped by a curved windscreen. The riding stance is expected to be more aggressive thanks to low-set clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs.
Other changes we can see include a single-piece seat with an integrated rear cowl, as well as a smaller, upswept exhaust. Under the skin, the mechanical setup is likely to remain unchanged. The Cafe Racer variant is expected to use the same 225.9cc single-cylinder engine that produces around 20 bhp and 20 Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. Suspension duties will likely be handled by a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, with disc brakes at both ends.
