Honda Cars India has released the first official teaser of the updated Honda City ahead of its India launch on May 22, 2026. The teaser image shows the sedan covered under a cover, with only the slim LED DRLs visible. The updated City is expected to receive cosmetic modifications, feature additions and cabin updates while continuing with the same engine options. It will continue to compete with Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia in the sedan segment.
2026 Honda City facelift: What to expect
In terms of design, the facelifted City is expected to feature a sharper front fascia with revised LED lighting elements, updated bumpers and a refreshed grille design. Several leaked images show a thin grille and a honeycomb/mesh-inspired treatment. The side profile including the roof and overall silhouette are likely to remain largely unchanged. However, the updated sedan is expected to get newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the bumper design is expected to be revised, along with updated tail-lamps and vertically positioned reflectors.Inside the cabin, the facelifted sedan may get additional features like ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and an updated infotainment system with better connectivity features. Revised upholstery and new interior color themes are also expected. However, the overall dashboard layout is likely to remain the same as the existing model.Mechanically, the sedan is expected to continue with the existing powertrain options. The standard model will likely retain the 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 121 bhp and 145 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission. Honda is expected to continue to offer a stronger hybrid version combining the 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor, producing 124 hp and 253 Nm of torque.
