Honda Cars India is all set to launch the new Honda City facelift in the Indian market tomorrow i.e. on May 22, 2026. This sedan will continue to compete with Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna in the Indian market. Pre-bookings are expected to start from tomorrow, interested customers can book the car online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The new City is expected to get major cosmetic changes, new interior layout, additional features, better dynamics and safety. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, let’s take a look at everything we know.Mechanically, it is expected to remain the same and will continue to get two engine options – a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine that produces 121bhp and 145Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed MT or CVT gearbox. It also offers a segment-first hybrid powertrain: a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine with 124 hp and 253 Nm of torque. The new Honda City facelift will adopt a sharper design language with a flatter, more upright front end than the existing model. The updated styling appears to be inspired by Honda’s new global products, featuring cleaner surfaces and a more modern look. The sedan is expected to retain its slim, top-mounted DRLs, although the headlamp units appear to have been modified. The grille design also looks different, replacing the existing mesh pattern with horizontal elements. It is expected that all these changes will make the car look wider and sharper than before. Most of the side profile including the sloping roofline, door design and ORVMs appear unchanged. However, the updated model will have a new alloy wheel design and will probably measure 16 inches. At the rear, the overall layout remains similar to the current car, although the tail-lamps get a new design and the bumper has also been updated, with vertically positioned reflectors replacing the current horizontal units. Apart from these changes, the facelift is expected to retain most of the existing body structure and features. The facelifted Honda City is expected to get interior updates focused on features and comfort. Possible additions include a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and an updated infotainment system with better connectivity. The cabin may also feature revised upholstery with new material or color options. Overall, these changes are expected to increase comfort and equipment levels without making major changes to the interior layout.
