JSW MG Motor India is all set to officially unveil the new MG Magister in the Indian market on February 12, 2026. The company is working to generate interest in SUVs with an aim to attract off-road enthusiasts in the Indian market. Now, this SUV has become the first SUV in the D+ segment to climb Mount Japfu, the second highest peak in Nagaland. The teaser footage shows the MG Magister tackling steep climbs, rocky stretches, tight forest tracks and tough terrain, highlighting its off-road capability and terrain management systems. The SUV is seen showcasing its capabilities in extreme real-world conditions, tackling tough slopes with ease. A few days ago, it was seen in flowing water from a river, with the water level reaching the bonnet.
The new Magister will have a large matrix-style grille flanked by Falcon-inspired daytime running lights and modern split headlamps. The side profile highlights its premium stance with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear gets new connected LED tail-lights and a more sophisticated bumper design, giving the SUV a fresh and modern look.Interior details have not been revealed yet, but it is expected to get dual-tone upholstery and a fully digital instrument cluster, a large free-standing infotainment system, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, a Level 2 ADAS suite, automatic three-zone climate control, powered, ventilated, heated front seats, LED headlights, fog lamps, LED taillights and more.
Mechanically, the MG Magister is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine producing 163 hp and 375 Nm in the 4×2 variant, while the 4×4 variant is likely to offer higher outputs of 218 hp and 480 Nm. Reports also suggest that the new MG Magster will feature 4×4 with three differential locks, as well as dedicated switches to toggle between 2WD, 4WD and low-range 4WD modes.
