New Hyundai i20 leaked! Connected lights, big screens and more

Images of the next-generation Hyundai i20 have surfaced online ahead of its global debut, detailing the hatchback’s completely redesigned exterior and cabin.The leaked images reveal dramatic changes in the design of the current i20. While the hatchback has retained its overall look, Hyundai has introduced several styling changes that give it a more crossover-inspired appearance. At the front, the new i20 features a full-width LED light bar connecting a pair of arrow-shaped headlamps. The lighting units include Y-shaped LED DRLs, while at the rear there is a connected tail-light setup within triangular-shaped clusters. The hatchback also gets newly designed alloy wheels.

Inside, Hyundai has given the i20 a completely updated cabin. The dashboard now features a large curved display integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. The car also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel and a redesigned center console with a slimmer layout.The leaked model also shows a dual-tone beige and gray interior theme with soft-touch material on the door pads.Although Hyundai has not revealed official technical specifications, the new generation i20 is expected to continue with the existing engine options in many markets. These include 83 HP 1.2-litre petrol engine and 120 HP 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. The vehicle seen in the leaked images sports a ‘TGDi’ badge, confirming the presence of a turbocharged engine in the line-up.India is expected to remain one of the key markets for the i20, with local production likely to continue for both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive export markets. The new hatchback is expected to arrive in India in early 2027, where it will renew its rivalry with models like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.The fourth generation i20 represents one of the biggest design changes in the model’s history. With connected lighting elements, larger digital displays and a more SUV-inspired stance, Hyundai is reimagining its premium hatchback to better align with the evolving preferences of customers.
