Toyota launches Land Cruiser FJ in Japan! Detailed information about SUV going to India

Toyota Motor Corporation has launched the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ in Japan. Priced at JPY 4,500,100, which is approximately Rs 27.24 lakh, this SUV is also expected to come to India in the future. Here’s a quick look at what to expect from this more accessible Land Cruiser.

In terms of size, the length of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ measures approximately 4,575 mm to 4,610 mm depending on the specification referred to, while the width stands at 1,855 mm. Height is pegged between 1,890 mm and 1,960 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,580 mm. Compared to the larger Land Cruiser model, the FJ uses a shorter wheelbase setup, which also helps it achieve a tight turning radius of 5.5 metres.The design remains true to the traditional Land Cruiser identity with a boxy silhouette, upright stance and strong proportions. Toyota has given the SUV smooth rounded corners to keep it from looking too aggressive. Exterior highlights include LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, part-LED tail lamps and a side-hinged tailgate with a spare wheel mounted at the rear. Interestingly, Toyota has omitted the sunroof, although buyers looking for a serious off-road SUV are unlikely to find this a major drawback.Inside the cabin, the FJ gets a modern yet functional layout. It features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch driver information display. Under the hood, the Japanese-spec model is powered by a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. The motor produces around 163 hp and the torque output is 246 Nm. Power is sent through a 6-speed automatic gearbox paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system.Toyota says the SUV has been developed with serious off-road capability in mind. The Land Cruiser FJ is built on a platform derived from Toyota’s IMV architecture and is claimed to offer wheel articulation equivalent to the larger 70 Series Land Cruiser.
