Vietnamese EV maker Vinfast has officially opened bookings for its upcoming electric MPV, the MPV7, in India ahead of its market launch. The new electric MPV can be reserved from today by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000, with its launch scheduled to take place on April 15 in Delhi. Here’s a quick look at VinFast’s plans in the near future.
Vinfast MPV 7 Limo Green and more to follow
The MPV7 will mark VinFast’s entry into India’s highly competitive family car segment, with the model primarily targeted at private buyers. Along with this, the company will also introduce Limo Green, a version based on the same platform but meant for fleet and commercial applications.
Apart from its passenger vehicle plans, Vinfast is preparing to launch its electric cab service, GSM, in India in the coming months. The company also plans to expand into the two-wheeler segment, with electric scooters expected to arrive later this year. Interestingly, these will be sold through a separate retail network, indicating a different strategy for the high-volume two-wheeler segment. The MPV7 itself is a seven-seater electric model that has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. It is expected to take on rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Powertrain details have not been revealed yet, but we can expect a front-mounted electric motor producing 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque along with a 60.13 kWh battery pack. The model is claimed to offer a driving range of approximately 450 km on the NEDC cycle.
